Gloucester resident Clarence Bowser, running as an Independent, is challenging Sheriff Darrell Warren in Tuesday's election. He provided the Daily Press with this information on his candidacy.
Bowser: My name is Clarence Bowser and I was born in North Carolina but spent many years of my life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am a man of honor and I stand strong on my faith in God, my family and my service to mankind.
I recognize just how much my parents had influenced my life. I reflect on how their love and nurturing ways has helped me to persevere through trials and tribulation and weather life's storms. As a Viet-Nam veteran of three years I understand the adversity and challenges of war and lost. I have served my country and my fellowman. While stationed in Viet Nam, I receive the "Bronze Star" for Valor. This was a proud and memorable time for me because I was able to give of myself for the cause of others. I along with great men and women valiantly, without hesitation offered our lives for the cause of Justice, Freedom and liberty are our prospective.
My platform is a declaration of the principles for which I stand. (Redemption) To Establish Justice, and insure Domestic Tranquility. and promote the general welfare, of all the people by those words of: "Abraham Lincoln and Patrick Henry."
"Let every American, every lover of Liberty, every well wisher to his posterity, swear by the blood of the revolution, Never to violate in the least particular the laws of this Country; and never to tolerate their violation by others!"
The only exception to this Statement; "give me liberty or give me Death."
I enrolled in Tulsa University in the field of criminology. Gaining three years of criminology helped me to become a more dedicated officer of the law. I have served 26 years in law enforcement. Those 26 years included being a Police Officer in Owasso, Oklahoma, Police Officer at Hampton University andDeputy Sheriff in Gloucester County, Virginia. One of the greatest programs that I was instrumental in implementing was the D.A.R.E program. A program focused on helping our youth stay drug free and away from gangs that can easily destroy their pride and eliminate successful endeavors.
I have mentored children of all ages. I believe that we must never cease to fight for our children but continue to work for their advancement and growth; they are the future community and society that we place within their hands.
I am a minister of the Gospel, a father, and a law-abiding citizen and stand in service to every human being no matter how great or small the cause.
I have gained tremendous perception and insight of the law on a daily basis. Personal encounters have served as an "eye opener" to the corruption that lies within our legal and judicial system, that has turned the system of justice "UPSIDE DOWN."
As a candidate for Sheriff, my Points of Interest are:
THE VIOLATION OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL AND CIVIL RIGHTS
- The abuse of power
- The misuse of the laws in every area for profit
- To return to the olds ways
- Continue to promote and maintain safety and protection for all citizens of Gloucester.
- Build and maintain effective programs for the youth – Drug Free Awareness Programs, etc.
- Eliminate corruption such as intimidation, false imprisonment, conspiracy, and forced submission by some local officials.
- Promote voter registration
Again as Lincoln stated: "Let every American, every lover of liberty, every well wisher to his posterity, swear by the blood of the Revolution, never to violate in the least particular, the laws of the country; and never to tolerate their violation by others".
The challenges in Gloucester, Virginia are becoming insurmountable. The abuse of power by law officials continues to run rampant in our community. Citizens need to have hope and believe that a change is evident. The right to pursue freedom, equality, and pursuit of happiness should be infinitely forever. The strength of who we are as citizens can be lifted to greater heights when we remove doubt and fear. Nothing should remain the same when "same" is defined as control and neglect; force and submission; deceit and corruption. We are not defined by our almost presence in the matters of law and justice, but we are defined by our committed presence in all matters of law and justice for each of us as citizens.
Let us always remember: The flag of the United States of America is what symbolizes that freedom of ours, as well as the words: "innocent until proven guilty"
And the inscription on the dollar bill, "IN GOD WE TRUST":
It Tells the world that our Authority comes from "God" not man.
Because of those two things, Justice was established in the proper administration of what is JUST.
