City emergency planners need to know about the disabled and their needs during an emergency.
If you or a loved one has medical and/or functional needs, now is the time to register on the Regional Hampton Roads Medical Needs Registry, www.hrspecialneeds.org. Those who register will receive a free information packet in the mail.
The Web site provides planning tools and access to the voluntary Medical Needs Registry for those in the Hampton Roads area; they were developed by the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission's Regional Emergency Management advisory committee.
Information collected will help local officials plan for the needs of the community, such as developing appropriate alerting systems, enhancing shelter services adn coordinating transportation services.
