It's not quite accurate to describe Dexter Romweber as a rockabilly hero from the days of old. Romweber, formerly the leader of the band Flat Duo Jets, came along in the 1980s when the sounds of Eddie Cochrane and
Romweber's music was influenced by 1950s and 1960s rock in much the same way as that of The Cramps and The Fleshtones. Romweber brought together a passion for garage rock, surf guitar and rockabilly with the raw power of punk.
So, it's good to see Dexter Romweber is coming back to Hampton.
As I reported in a story about local rockabilly musician Johnny Trash, Romweber will perform Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Olde Towne Tavern in Phoebus. Trash's trio and the group Little House will also perform.
