The NFL's most hated player is the new title held by Michael Vick. A poll done by E-Poll Market Research and Nielsen show that about 60% of polltakers "dislike" the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback. Vick's involvement in the 2007 dog fighting scandal may be the reason he is so disliked among football fans.
Michael Vick's career has been filled with many successes and failures. He has broken records and made history when he became the first African-American quarterback to be picked first in the NFL draft. But, while Vick has made major strides on the field, the dog fighting scandal will probably be how he is most remembered by the public.
The voting may confuse some people, though, because Vick's return to the NFL has been going well. Since his return to football in 2009, Vick has led the Eagles to the playoffs. He also came very close to winning the fan vote of being on the cover of the popular video game "Madden '12." The mixed feelings about Vick aren't new. According to ESPN columnist Jemele Hill, Vick was considered a polarizing player even before the dog fighting scandal.
