Party with Pat! CBN celebrates 50 years of broadcasting with free concerts Oct. 1

Pat Robertson is a television evangelist, not a concert promoter. Give credit where credit is due, though. A 50th anniversary party celebrating his Christian Broadcasting Network on Saturday, Oct. 1, will feature free live music from big-name acts: MercyMe, Diamond Rio and the bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent.

Called CBN: 50 Years of Broadcasting, the event will feature lots of family activities in addition to the music. Puppet shows, hot-air balloon rides, arts and crafts vendors and tours of The 700 Club studios will be offered.

Here are music highlights:

11 a.m. -- Dailey & Vincent, Regent University Mall outdoor stage

Noon-1 p.m. -- Diamond Rio, Library Stage

4:30 p.m. -- MercyMe, Library Stage

It all takes place at the Christian Broadcasting Network headquarters, 977 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, and on campus at adjacent Regent University.

The festival portion of the event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. A fireworks display will happen 9 p.m., after a set of talks and speeches from guests including Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and evangelist Reinhard Bonnke.
