Frank Martinez seals up the packaging on a bale off cotton out of the bale press after processing at Commonwealth Gin in Windsor. The cotton has been cleaned and the seed removed during the ginning process. Each bale can weight as much as 460-520 lbs. 480 lbs. is the avg. A sample is taken from each side of the bale and combined for shipment to the USDA classing office in Florence, South Carolina.
