Headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, the Daily Press' primary market area includes the cities of the Virginia Peninsula, Williamsburg, James City County, the Middle Peninsula region of Gloucester and Mathews County and Isle of Wight County and Surry, south of the James River.
Founded as a four-page penny newspaper in 1896, the Daily Press newspaper publishes seven days a week, serving over 400,000 readers in greater Hampton Roads, Virginia. The Virginia Gazette Companies LCC, a subsidiary of The Daily Press, Inc., includes the twice-weekly Virginia Gazette in Williamsburg, first published in 1736 and the nation's oldest non-daily newspaper.
