Bluegrass music, barbecue and beautiful views of the James River are the draw for ShinDIG at Jamestown on Wednesday, Sept. 26, on Jamestown Island.
Gates open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 6:30 p.m. The Who Ever Shows Up Band will perform at the Dale House Café on Jamestown Island. One of the featured musicians in the Williamsburg-based band includes archaeology director Bill Kelso on banjo. Other band members include Doug Burgoyne, guitar; Jack Cowardin, fiddle; Rob Foos, dobro; Bobby Hornsby, bass; Rennie Howard, banjo; Ellen Kelso, bass; and Steve Robertson, guitar.
The barbecue dinner is provided by Carrot Tree Kitchens. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Seating will be provided, and the event will be held rain or shine.
Proceeds benefit the archaeological research, educational programs and operations of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project at Historic Jamestowne.
Historic Jamestowne is located at 1368 Colonial Parkway on Jamestown Island, seven miles west of Williamsburg. It can be reached via the Colonial Parkway or Route 31.
