AHL: Adirondack deals Admirals fourth defeat in row

Norfolk Admirals

(7-9) lost their fourth game in a row in regulation, falling 2-1 Friday to the

Adirondack Phantoms

in Glens Falls, N.Y.

The Phantoms (8-8), the top affiliate of the

Philadelphia Flyers

, scored twice in a 49-second span early in the second period for a 2-0 edge.

Admirals

replied on

Peter Holland

’s power-play goal with 31 seconds left in the middle period but couldn’t convert on 12 shots against Phantoms goalie

Scott Munroe

in the final period.

Frederik Anderson made 29 saves but took the loss.

Before the game, the Admirals signed forward

Rod Pelley

and loaned defenseman Gabe Guentzel to the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets.

Pelley, 28, 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, has played 256

NHL

games between the

Anaheim Ducks

and

New Jersey Devils

. He has scored nine goals, 20 points and 102 penalty minutes.

Pelley, a former Ohio State player, last played in the

AHL

in 2008-09 with the Lowell

Devils

. In 151 AHL games over three seasons with Lowell, he had 34 goals, 36 assists and 131 penalty minutes.

Guentzel, 6 feet and 185 pounds, has appeared in six games with the Admirals this season, recording one assist and six penalty minutes.

The Admirals play the

Connecticut Whale

, the

New York Rangers

’ top affiliate, in Hartford on Saturday.
