THE STORYLINES

Plenty of receiving options … Paul Gostomski won't be the only target. Four other receivers who combined for 47 catches are back. That includes Devionne Green, who caught 14 balls in three games before being sidelined by a medical issue.

But who will get them the ball? Allen Simon and 18 touchdown passes are gone. The Patriots began fall practice with three possibilities: sophomore Terrence Dingle, senior Denzel Wise and newcomer Michael Curtis. Wise started three games in 2009.

Plenty of youth up front. Denbigh had only 10 players who weighed more than 200 pounds last year. The Patriots are still small, and they're also young on the lines. Harris likes freshman Demarco Brown (6-1, 270), and Twymun Safford is the only senior.

THE STANDOUTS

Paul Gostomski

Sr. | 6-3 | 195 | WR/TE

Had a terrific season in 2010 with a district-leading 49 catches for 646 yards and 8 touchdowns. Look out for the fade route in goal-line situations.

Daquane Jones

Sr. | 5-9 | 145 | WR

A deep threat who averaged nearly 20 yards a reception and made second-team all-district. Should get plenty of opportunities.

Darius Banks

Soph. | 5-9 | 135 | WR/DB

Harris says Banks, who started as a freshman, was the Patriots' top cornerback last season. He should only get better.

MILESTONE MOMENT

Nov. 14, 1992. With a sloppy 14-3 win over Menchville, the Patriots finished the regular season 8-2 and clinched their first (and, to this day, only) playoff appearance. They lost to Indian River 20-16 the following week and have had three winning seasons since.
