THE STORYLINES

Getting less consistent. Menchville has the unique distinction of being the only team in PD history to finish with a 2-8 record in five consecutive seasons. Outside expectations aren't lofty, so even a 4-6 mark would be a good step.

No more One Man Show. In 2010, Clifton Richardson was asked to do pretty much everything for the Monarchs. Moore doesn't have that one star this year, which means he'll be counting on a number of runners and receivers.

Leadership from the twins. Seniors Tavon and Taron Petteway are two of the most experienced players on the roster, so they'll be expected to help some of the younger players along.

THE STANDOUTS

Martel Peden

Sr. | 6-4 | 180 | WR/DB

A good-looking athlete who has the size to go up and get the ball. He'll be expected to be one of the Monarchs' playmakers this season.

Tyler Mueller

Jr. | 6-1 | 180 | QB/DB

Completed 4-of-13 passes with four interceptions in limited work last season. Moore says he's a smart player who will have experience around him.

Jamel Boothe

Sr. | 5-9 | 180 | RB/DL

Averaged only 2.2 yards per rushing attempt but also scored five of the Monarchs' 13 rushing touchdowns last season.

MILESTONE MOMENT

Nov. 19, 1993. They limped across the regular season's finish line, but the Monarchs crushed Maury 31-13 for its first (and last) playoff win. The following week, they lost to Indian River in the Eastern Region Division 6 final.
