Tabb graduate Corey Patrick has added to the large list of Bay Rivers District baseball players to reach the Division I ranks in recent years. Norfolk State University announced on Tuesday that Patrick is part of its 13-man 2013 recruiting class.
Patrick played this past season for Patrick Henry Community College, batting .370 with 10 doubles, a triple, a home run, 24 RBI and seven stolen bases. Patrick, an outfielder, was an All-Bay Rivers District and All-Region I first team selection at Tabb as a senior, when he batted .393, hit seven home runs and stole 11 bases.
"Corey has the ability to cover a lot of ground in the outfield," Norfolk State coach Claudell Clark said in a release on the recruiting class. "He has also hit well at every level that he has played on, and led Patrick Henry in hitting this past season.
"As he gets at-bats and gets comfortable on this level, we feel that he can be a mainstay in our lineup and drive in runs consistently."Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
