The likelihood of snow in Richmond and the western part of the state Tuesday night and Wednesday, won't necessarily cause havoc with the Virginia High School League state basketball tournament schedule at the VCU Siegel Center in Richmond this week.
VHSL assistant director Tom Dolan said moving any of the championship games from Saturday to Sunday would be a "last resort," and believes a favorable schedule can keep that from happening even in a worst-case scenario.
Dolan said he expected all games to be played as scheduled Tuesday and that only two games are scheduled for Wednesday (at 11 a.m. and 12:45), when driving conditions are expected to be at their worst throughout the state. He expects those games to be played as scheduled, but added that if weather is a factor on Wednesday, finding a place to plug in those two games would not be a problem.
"Whatever we do," Dolan added, "the safety of the student athletes will be our first priority."
