Inside the PD: Menchville baseball seniors off to college

Three Menchville baseball seniors will be taking their careers to Saint Augustine's College of the CIAA.

Outfielder Jordan Wright, pitcher/first baseman Malik Mitchell and outfielder/designated hitter Deshaun Hewitt have committed to play for the Falcons.

Wright, who transferred from Hampton Christian, is coming off a strong Peninsula District tournament in which he went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Mitchell, a left-hander, has won all five of his decisions. Hewitt had a run-scoring single in the Monarchs’ 8-0 win over Kecoughtan in the PD semifinals.

St. Augustine’s, coached by Charles Whitaker, finished 19-31 last season. Last year’s roster included Luis Perez of Bethel.

Also, pitcher/outfielder Paul Ragaglia plans to play at Patrick Henry Community College. Ragaglia is one of Menchville’s relievers and closed out the win over the Warriors.

Monarchs shortstop Josh Moore signed with Virginia Tech in the fall. All-District Pitcher Garrett Chrismon is headed to Christopher Newport.
