The Norfolk Tides left the tying run on second base in the seventh and eighth innings and had a runner thrown out at the plate as they fell 6-5 to the Charlotte Knights Wednesday afternoon in front of 5,045 fans in Fort Mill, S.C.
Former Tide Jason Berken (1-1), trying to climb up the Chicago White Sox ladder, got the victory. The Tides' Jonathan Schoop extended his hitting streak to eight games.

The Richmond Flying Squirrels' winning streak ended at four as the Altoona Curve beat them 6-2 in a matinee before busloads of schoolchildren in a crowd of 6,088 at The Diamond.
The Curve, Pittsburgh's Double-A affiliate, scored five runs -- three unearned -- off Taylor Rogers (0-1) in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie.
