Peninsula athletes win three events on first day of Eastern Region track meet

Phoebus' Carolyn Brown won the girls' 55-meter dash in the Eastern Region track meet Friday, nipping Asonya Anderson of Heritage.

Brown ran 7.02 seconds to Anderson's 7.09.

Jayme Thomas of Bethel won the girls' triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 10 inches. She beat Briana White of First Colonial by two inches.

Phoebus' Charles Graham was second in the boys' 55-meter hurdles. Aaron Simpson of

Western Branch

won in 7.37 seconds, while Graham ran 7.46.

And Aaron Worrell of Woodside leaped 48-4 to win the triple jump by nearly three feet.
