Wednesday's high school roundup: Kecoughtan girls advance before rain hits Peninsula soccer quarterfinals; St. John sparks Tabb in softball

Kecoughtan defeated Phoebus 2-0 Wednesday night in the first round of the Peninsula District girls soccer tournament at Gloucester.

The Warriors will go against top-seeded Gloucester at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Wednesday’s second game was suspended because of rain with 17 minutes remaining in the first half and No. 3 Menchville leading No. 6 Warwick 1-0. It will resume at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Thursday’s boys first-round games thus were moved back slightly. No. 5 Phoebus plays No. 4 Bethel at 5:30, then it’s No. 6 Menchville vs. No. 3 Gloucester at 7:15.
