In Game 1, Ryan Shook pitched a complete game for the victory. In Game 2, Kevin Curd's RBI double with two out in the eighth won it for the Spartans. The Spartans' Chris Joyce has hit safely in all 10 games this year.

Finals: Fairfield 4-1, Old Dominion 3-9:

After falling behind for good in the fifth inning of Game 1, ODU (7-5) bounced back in Game 2 at Bud Metheny Complex as Phil McCarthy pitched a seven-inning complete game.

Finals: James Madison 6-5, William and Mary 4-3:

In Game 1, Billy Logan's two-run single broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the ninth. In Game 2, the Tribe's rally in the ninth fell short despite Tadd Bower's two-run double.

CNU's school-record winning streak stands at 14. Sean Chitsaz's 10-strikeout, eight-inning pitching guided the Captains (15-1) in Game 1, and Greg Goldsmith pitched seven scoreless innings in Game 2. Luke Saunders had the winning hit in each game.

The 37th-ranked Deacons won every match except No. 1 singles, where Anton Andersson stopped 84th-ranked Tripper Carleton 7-5, 7-5.

W&L is ranked 29th nationally and beat a VWC team whose starters include Grafton High alum Donnie Greathouse.

Women’s tennis

The 47th-ranked Tribe's Jeltje Loomans won at No. 2 over Lindsey Hardenbergh, and W&M's Hope Johnson and Anik Cepeda won in doubles at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. But at No. 8 in the nation, U.Va. looks like it has its best team in program history.

Tracy Reed's two goals and Lisa Bernardini's two assists kept ODU (0-2) in the game,

but AU's seven-goal run was too much to overcome.
