Jordan Duncan, 12, of Newport News, who swims for the Colony Cudas, has gone unbeaten this summer in the Greater Peninsula Swimming Association. Swimming in the 11-12 age group, he has broken numerous pool and team records, most of which had stood for more than 10 years.
His best times include 1 minute, 8.95 seconds in the 100-meter individual medley, 27.88 in the 50 freestyle, 30.93 in the 50 freestyle and 36.28 in the 50 breaststroke.
Duncan has broken all of the pool and team records in those events at Colony, as well as the pool marks at Marlbank and Glendale. Duncan, whose fellow Cudas include his younger brother, Preston, will be one of the favorites in many events at the Aug. 4 GPSA city meet at Fort Eustis Aquatic Center.
In early March, while representing the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins in the 11-12 age group, Jordan Duncan won the 50 backstroke in the state short-course championship meet at Virginia Tech, posting one of the nation's top 10 times for his age bracket. He soon will enter the seventh grade at Gildersleeve Middle School.
