Tabb pircher Patrick Corbett was picked by Kansas City in the 47th round of the draft on Wednesday. He has signed to play basketball at Coastal Carolina next year.
He led the Tigers with a .440 batting average, .554 on-base percentage, 14 walks and 15 RBI. He was 4-3 pitching with 65 strikeouts versus only three walks in 52-2/3 innings. His regular season ERA was 1.33.
In the 36th round of the draft Wednesday, Pittsburgh picked Isaac Ballou, an outfielder from Marshall who lives in Smithfield.
Ballou graduated from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk and earned Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools in football, basketball and baseball.
He hit .283 in 51 games for Marshall, while playing mostly center field.
In the 49th round, Atlanta picked Cody Cox, a right-handed pitcher from Thomas Nelson Community College. He's from Grassfield High School and pitched for the Greenbrier Post 280 American Legion team that reached the American Legion World Series last summer.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
