The Peninsula Pilots, whose home opener Thursday night against Outer Banks was stopped after two innings because of rain with the score tied at 1, took a four-run lead late Wednesday but lost 6-5 to the host Petersburg Generals in the Coastal Plain League season opener for both.
Pilots shortstop Jake McAloose of Old Dominion doubled, stole two bases, drove in two runs and scored one. Pilots designated hitter Billy Barber, a cleanup batter from the Richmond Spiders, was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run and a steal.
