Simply the best The 1988 Falcons used a miracle play — forcing a fumble and returning it for a TD after throwing an interception on the final play at Greensville County — just to get a shot at powerful Tabb and future NFL standouts Terry Kirby and Chris Slade in the Region I final. The Falcons (10-3) pulled off a monumental upset, 32-24, ending Tabb's 25-game win streak. QB Robb Berryman threw two touchdown passes to Chris Lanier, while linebackers David Bates and Jeff Edmiston led a defense that held Kirby to 50 rushing yards. The state Division 4 playoff loss a week later did nothing to dim the legacy of the historic upset.
