Teel Time: Final word on U.Va., Virginia Tech basketball

Daily Progress' Whitey Reid.

Reid and I have had a spirited, good-natured

about the future prospects of Virginia and Virginia Tech basketball. But in his

, Reid quotes me incorrectly.

"Is Teel serious when he says he could see Virginia finishing anywhere between 7 and 9 in the

this season?" Reid wrote. "UVa finished tied for seventh last season when it was missing its best player (Mike Scott), had an assortment of injuries (Sammy Zeglinski, Will Sherrill) and had a mid-season transfer (Billy Baron)."

Uh, I didn't pick Virginia to finish between seventh and ninth.

Clear as day. Even the headline says, "U.Va.,

Hokies

look like top-half ACC basketball teams next season."

What I wrote in a subsequent post was: "I could see the Cavs and Hokies tying at anywhere from 9-7 to 7-9, or the Hokies finishing higher."

Meaning an ACC record of anywhere from 9-7 to 7-9.

Just wanted to clear that up. I've got enough U.Va. fans questioning my sanity without them thinking I've picked the

Cavaliers

to finish seventh or worse next season.

Oh, and Whitey, don't fret if the Cool Hand Luke reference escapes you. The film was made in 1967, before you were born.
