The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk and the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk have partnered to offer a symbiotic discount.
Guests who visit the museum's exhibit "Curious George Saves the Day: the Art of Margret and H. A. Rey" will receive a coupon for a free child's admission (with a paid adult admission) to the Virginia Zoo.
Guests who visit the zoo first will receive a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for the museum exhibit.
Assuming one adult and one child will embark on the outing, the first option saves visitors $9 (the price of a child's ticket to the zoo). The second option -- visiting the zoo first -- saves guests $5 (the price of admission for special exhibits). The total cost for both activities (after the $9 discount) is $21 for parent and child.
The "Curious George" exhibit will be on display through Sept. 18. The Virginia Zoo recently added a number of primates to its collection, and visitors can see siamangs, orangutans, gibbons, mandrills and squirrel monkeys, among the other animals in the zoo.
UPDATE: The Virginia Zoo also is offering free admission to seniors over the age of 62 during the months of August and September.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
