Encinitas Oktoberfest

The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce will hold its 23rd Annual Encinitas Oktoberfest on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. The event, located at the intersection of Mountain Vista Dr. at El Camino Real, will feature a German band and Bavarian dancers, up to 200 vendors, including artisans with unusual arts and craft items, a family food tent serving authentic German food and beverages, and a ceremonial parade. Encinitas Community Garden Farm-to-Table benefit event

The Encinitas Community Garden is celebrating its third year and is holding a Farm-to-Table Dinner to support its future. Hospice of the North Coast is looking for Saturday volunteers to work in its Resale Shop at 278-B El Camino Real (Homegoods Shopping Center). One 4-hour shift per week is required. City of Encinitas seeking artists to exhibit in 2019

The City of Encinitas Cultural Arts Division oversees three civic galleries: the Civic Center Gallery at City Hall, the Encinitas Library Gallery, and the Encinitas Community Center Gallery (with 2-D and 3-D exhibits at all locations). The city is accepting applications for 2019. The deadline to apply is Oct. 15. There is no gallery commission, the artist receives 100 percent of all art sales. Olivenhain Kids Cross Country Invitational

The sixth annual Olivenhain Kids Cross Country Invitational will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Olivenhain Town Hall. The invitational is a great way for kids ages 5-14 of all abilities to experience a fun, kids-only running event. Age group races begin at 8 a.m.

The course is a 500-meter loop with each race consisting of one to four loops (one for the youngest age group and up to four loops for the oldest age groups). All races are run entirely on the meeting house grounds. Entries are $15 per person in advance or $20 on race day. The town hall is located at 423 Rancho Santa Fe Road in Encinitas. The Windansea Surf Club is accepting entries for its annual Menehune + Junior Surf Contest which will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at La Jolla Shores. Long board and short board divisions of multiple age groups are contested for boys and girls 16 years of age and under, including the popular (and very entertaining) Super Menehunes for 6- year-olds and under.

‘Pups in the Park’

Holli”day…Anyday! is inviting all furry friends to its exclusive debut event “Pups in the Park” on Saturday, Sept. 29. Proceeds from this family dog-friendly afternoon soiree will go to benefit Southern California Bulldog Rescue’s (SCBR) expansion into San Diego. Pups and their pet parents will enjoy an unforgettable afternoon at a private Rancho Santa Fe 3-acre estate.

Well-behaved dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome to attend the event and must remain leashed. Sukkot Harvest Festival

Coastal Roots Farm hosts Sukkot Harvest Festival at Leichtag Commons, Sunday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 441 Saxony Road, Encinitas. This annual event for all ages coincides with the last day of the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot, and is the Farm’s biggest event of the year.This year’s festival theme is Renew & Reroot. The family friendly event will include a host of Jewish learning workshops, farm tours, music, tours of neighboring Butterfly Farms, a “libation station,” fermentation tastings, as well as food options for purchase. Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure

Susan G. Komen San Diego’s (Komen San Diego) 22nd annual Race for the Cure will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, in Balboa Park. The vendor expo will be open at 6:30 a.m. along Balboa Drive, and the race will begin at 8 a.m. With the money raised from the event, Susan G. Komen San Diego provides free services for every step of the breast cancer journey, including research, mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, care coordination, advocacy and financial assistance for breast cancer patients’ most critical needs during treatment.

Jewish Short Film Festival

Sandpipers Square Dance Club

The Sandpipers Square Dance Club had an energetic and enthusiastic turnout for its first class of the new season recently. Beatles vs. Stones benefit concert

Beatles vs. Stones will perform at The Paddock at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Oct. 6, to raise funds for state-of-the-art surgical equipment at the Hospital Infantil de las Californias. Funds raised will also support the Hospital’s “Programa de Apoyo a Pacientes Indigentes” (program for indigent patients) and Foundation operations.A crowd of 400 is anticipated at the event, which includes dinner stations, opportunity drawing, live auction and silent auction. San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy River Valley Fest
