"Xanadu's" struggling artist Sonny Malone finds his muse in the roller-skating Kira, who unknown to him is an actual Olympian Muse. Malone is inspired to open a roller disco and he and Kira fall in love. Kira's feelings, however, violate Zeus' decree on Muses. The musical is based on the 1980 film of the same name though there are a few differences between the two productions. The cult film was a box office dud during its initial release, but the musical opened to mostly positive reviews. "Xanadu" ran on Broadway from 2007-08 and was nominated for four Tony Awards.
