Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth is recovering after a freak accident Wednesday while working on CBS’ “The Good Wife” in New York. A spokeswoman for the actress told the Associated Press on Thursday that Chenoweth was at home recovering from her injury and that the actress “thanks everyone for their prayers and good wishes.”

A statement from CBS said: “While filming a scene for ‘The Good Wife’ in Brooklyn, a gust of wind blew a lighting silk out of place striking actress Kristin Chenoweth... All of us at the studio and the show are thinking about Kristin and wishing her a quick recovery.”

The New York Daily News reported that the accident occurred in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn and that paramedics arrived at the scene in late afternoon.

The actress was taken to a hospital in Manhattan.

One witness told the celebrity site TMZ that Chenoweth was struck on the head and that she hit her head on concrete during the fall. TMZ published photos of the actress being wheeled away on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

Chenoweth has starred in several Broadway musicals, most recently “Promises, Promises” in 2010. Her ABC series “GCB” was cancelled in May.
