Actress Amanda Peet has added some star power to her debut as a playwright. Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker will play mother and daughter facing family and fiscal troubles in Peet’s new off-Broadway production.

"The Commons of Pensacola" will begin previews at the Manhattan Theatre Club on Oct. 22 and open Nov. 21. Lynne Meadow will direct.

Danner and Parker previously shared the stage as a pet owner and a dog (yes, Parker played a dog) in MTC's 1995 production "Sylvia.”

In "The Commons of Pensacola" Danner plays a woman forced to leave her posh New York life for Pensacola in the wake of her husband’s Wall Street scam.

Danner was recently seen in “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” alongside Parker’s husband, Matthew Broderick.

Parker, who won an Emmy for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in HBO’s "Sex and the City,” started her career on stage in a 1979 production of “Annie.” Her other theater credits include “The Substance of Fire,” “The Heidi Chronicles” and “Once Upon a Mattress.”

Peet’s screen credits include “Something’s Gotta Give” and “Igby Goes Down”; on stage she’s starred in  “Barefoot in the Park,” “ Break of Noon” and “This Is How It Goes.” She appeared in seven episodes of the CBS drama "The Good Wife" this season.
