Actor, musician and avid art collector Steve Martin will co-curate an exhibition of work by the late Canadian artist Lawren Harris that will debut at the Hammer Museum at UCLA in fall 2015.

A spokeswoman for the Hammer said that the exhibition "is in the very early stages of planning though, so we don’t have any other details at this time."

The show is expected to tour the U.S. after opening at the Hammer. Another venue for the exhibition will be Toronto's Art Gallery of Ontario, which announced it on Wednesday.

Harris was a key figure in 20th century Canadian painting and was a founding member of the so-called Group of Seven, a coalition of pioneering Canadian artists. His paintings are noted for their non-realistic approach to depicting forests, mountains and other landscapes.

Harris, who died in Vancouver in 1970, was born in Canada and spent most of his career there, with short stays in New Hampshire and New Mexico.

Though he is widely known in his native country, Harris remains a somewhat obscure figure among casual art-goers in the U.S.

Martin's personal art collection includes works by Harris, though it is unclear if any of these pieces will be featured in the exhibition. The actor is working with Hammer curator Cindy Burlingham and AGO curator Andrew Hunter on the show.

The exhibition is expected to focus on the artist's work from the 1920s to '30s.
