Don’t speak: The highly coveted role of Helen Sinclair in Woody Allen’s musical adaptation of his 1993 movie “Bullets over Broadway” has been cast.

The role of the egomaniacal diva is going to stage veteran Marin Mazzie. The part was played in the movie by Dianne Wiest, who won a supporting actress Academy Award for her performance.

“Bullets” is scheduled to officially open in New York at the St. James Theater on April 10. Mazzie will star alongside the previously announced Zach Braff, who will play the role of David Shayne, a struggling playwright who accepts a deal from a gangster to get his latest show produced.

The role of Helen Sinclair was the last major role to be announced in the forthcoming Broadway production. The cast includes Nick Cordero as the gangster tough man Cheech, and Heléne Yorke as the gangster moll Olive Neal.

Mazzie is a Broadway veteran with three Tony Award nominations to her name. She had lead roles in the 1999 revival of “Kiss Me, Kate” and the 1998 revival of “Ragtime.”

“Bullets” is being adapted for the stage by Allen himself. Susan Stroman will direct and choreograph the production.
