Ky-Mani Marley

Reggae singer Ky-Mani Marley celebrates his birthday with a performance at the Shrine. The son of legendary singer Bob Marley is making the rounds on the intimate circuit and promoting his record label Konfrontation Muzik. Why go: Although Ky-Mani was not part of the Grammy tribute to his father (Ky-Mani's brothers Ziggy and Damian sang with Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna in the tribute), his soul-stirring vocals are an uncanny match. Reconsider: The Shrine is a cool place for a reggae show, but it's no Wild Hare. 9 p.m. Friday at The Shrine, 2109 S. Wabash Ave.; $15-$35; 312-753-5700,
