A Balkan tradition will continue when an internationally acclaimed tamburitza band performs at the Croatian Hall in Cambria City.
The all-female band Geravuse, which means "dark-haired ladies," will take to the stage along with Zeljko Loncaric and Antun Nikolic at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3.
Donations are $5.
Jerry Grcevich, a renowned tamburitza musician from North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, was instrumental in helping place Johnstown on Geravuse's North American tour, said Carol Ferencak, a member of the local Croatian Hall.
"Jerry reached out to me and told me about this band coming from Croatia," she said.
Ferencak said the concert fits well with the ethnic heritage of Cambria City.
"Croatian is one of its ethnicities," she said.
"They're a very good group," Ferencak added. "Often times, cultural events like this fall by the wayside."
