'A Dying King: The Shah of Iran' director Bobak Kalhor on what killed Anwar Sadat and the Shah

Could Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the late shah of Iran, have been cured of the lymphoma that killed him in 1980?Iranian American director Bobak Kalhor says most of the doctors he spoke to when researching his new documentary, “A Dying King: The Shah of Iran,” told him an “average Joe walking into any major hospital in a major city in any country, he would’ve probably been cured.”   Kalhor sat down with Los Angeles Times writer Jeffrey Fleishman to discuss the documentary, which examines the medical mistakes and political intrigue that led to the death of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the late Shah of Iran, who fled to exile during the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
