'The Square' star Claes Bang: Director Ostlund wanted us to leave

Claes Bang explains Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund's approach to filmmaking, quoting Östlund's desire to let no actor leave the set of “The Square” on any given day with any dignity intact and adding that Östlund “creates a dilemma” for every character in every scene to maximize the authenticity and organic nature of his stars' performances and “strip you of any kind of acting.”    Bang stars in Östlund's latest film “The Square,” as a museum director unveiling a controversial new installation on what turns out to be a dark and hilarious day. Mark Olsen wrote that the 2017 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or winner is a “subversive satire about power and privilege in the art world,” before sitting down with Bang for an interview.
