Jay Leno talks new CNBC show, explains Joan Rivers ban on ‘Tonight’

It’s official: Jay Leno has a new TV show.
The onetime host of NBC’s “Tonight Show” is returning with “Jay Leno’s Garage,” a primetime series for CNBC. True to its title, the show will allow legendary car-lover Leno to bring out his inner geek for motor-driven stuff.
“This show will be about anything that rolls, explodes and makes noise,” Leno said in a statement. “We hope to highlight the passion and the stories behind the men and women who made the automobile the greatest invention of the 20th century.”
The show will premiere sometime in 2015. Leno already hosts a show titled “Jay Leno’s Garage” on the Web.
Meanwhile, Leno told “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush that he maintained a “Tonight” ban on the late comedian Joan Rivers out of respect to his predecessor Johnny Carson, with whom Rivers had a fabled falling-out.
“I don’t think he wanted to see her on the show and that’s why we didn’t do it,” Leno said.
