‘Breaking Bad’s’ ‘Ozymandias’ beats ‘Miss America’ on Twitter

It seems nothing can break “Breaking Bad’s” hold on Twitter -- not even a storm of racially charged social media activity over this year’s Miss America pageant.

Sunday night’s episode on AMC, titled “Ozymandias,” brought more death and sorrow and drew almost 599,000 tweets, nearly double the number that last week’s episode generated, according to Nielsen’s SocialGuide.

On the same night, ABC aired the 2014 Miss America competition, in which Miss New York Nina Davuluri was crowned the winner after performing a Bollywood fusion dance for the talent portion, generating about 463,000 tweets.

Many of the tweeted reactions to Davuluri’s victory, which made her the first-ever winner of Indian heritage, were highly xenophobic.

Coming in behind two episodes of Fox’s “The X Factor,” President Obama’s 15-minute Tuesday speech about the ongoing situation in Syria unleashed about 232,000 tweets.

Here are the rankings for the week that ended Sunday.

1. “Breaking Bad” (AMC), Sunday, 598,500 tweets
