Fox orders full season of Seth MacFarlane’s comedy ‘Dads’

Looks like Fox won’t be kicking “Dads” out of the house.

The network has ordered nine additional episodes of the freshman comedy, bringing it to a full season of 22. This comes after Fox gave a similar commitment to the comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Andy Samberg, and planning to give that show some big post-Super Bowl exposure.

“Dads” -- which is executive produced by Seth MacFarlane of Fox animated series “Family Guy” and the teddy bear-come-to-life movie “Ted” -- follows two successful, thirtysomething guys whose less-respectable fathers move in with them. Early reviews slammed the show for its politically incorrect humor.

In ratings this week, the Tuesday 8 p.m. series fell 7% to a 1.4 in the key 18-49 age demographic, according to Nielsen, and drew an average of about 3.59 million viewers, up 6%. The show has achieved some pickup from delayed viewing methods such as DVR, video on demand and Web streaming.

Earlier in the fall, Fox renewed its quirky Ichabod Crane drama “Sleepy Hollow” for a second season.
