The British invasion of NBC News continues.
In her first major hire since taking over as president of NBC News in August, Deborah Turness has raided her old shop ITV News and tapped Julian March, ITV's director of online for a similar role at NBC News.
March will serve as senior vice president of editorial and innovation at NBC News. In that role, he will have oversight over all of NBC News' digital business including NBCNews.com and integration of NBC's television and digital operations.
In making the announcement, NBC said March will be a "key editorial leader." Turness, a former editor of ITV News, said in a staetment that March is a "proven digital leader and innovator with a very unique understanding of the intersection of broadcast news and digital."
While March's position is technically a new one, he will fill the void left by Vivian Schiller, who had been chief digital officer for NBC News before leaving the network for Twitter to manage partnerships between the social network and news organizations.
March will relocate from Britain to New York and start his new role in early 2014.
