Shirley Temple’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star out for repairs
Fans hoping to honor the late Shirley Temple Black by placing flowers on her Hollywood star won’t find it on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Located on the 1500 block of Vine Street, Temple’s star, among many others, was put into storage because of damage caused by “ficus trees that caused the sidewalk to buckle,” said Ana Martinez, spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce
“The stars are being repaired but it is just taking longer than expected,” Martinez said. “We are hoping for the stars to return in either summer or fall.”

Even without flowers on her star, Temple will still be memorialized in Hollywood. The Chamber of Commerce was scheduled Tuesday morning to a place a wreath in her memory at the “Gateway to the Walk of Fame” at La Brea and Hollywood Boulevard next to the Women in Film Gazebo, Martinez said.
“People are expected to come throughout the day,” she said.
Temple Black was the No. 1 box-office star in America from 1935 through 1938. Known for her dimples, curly hair and catchy songs (such as “On the Good Ship Lollipop” in the film “Bright Eyes”), the child actress was given a “special award” — a miniature Oscar — at the Academy Awards in 1934.
She died at age 85 in her Woodside, Calif., home, according to publicist Cheryl J. Kagan. No cause was given.
