TV ratings: ‘Modern Family’ tops in key demo; ‘Voice’ leads overall

“The Voice” sung its way to the top of TV ratings Wednesday night, elevating NBC to No. 1 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic and overall.

The singing competition was the most watched program with 10.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen. The show posted a rating of 2.5 in the key demo, tying for second with ABC’s “Black-ish.”

Also on NBC, a special crossover episode of “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago P.D.” earned a rating of 2.4 in the key demo, up 50% from last week. It was the third most watched program overall with about 10 million viewers.

The crossover episode of “Chicago P.D.,” which followed, averaged a rating of 2.2 in the key demo, up 57% from last week. About 9.4 million people tuned in.

Overall, the network earned a rating of 2.4 in the key demo and averaged 10 million viewers.

ABC’s “Modern Family” was No. 1 most watched in the key demo but tied its season low with a rating of 3.1. The show was fourth most watched of the night with 9.8 million viewers.

“Black-ish” was down 7% from its Oct. 29 airing with a rating of 2.5 in the key demo. The sitcom averaged 7.9 million viewers.

The network, which also aired “The Middle,” “The Goldbergs” and “Nashville,” was second in the key demo with a rating of 2.1. About 7.4 million people tuned in.

CBS was second most watched overall with 8.8 million viewers. It posted a rating of 2.0 in the key demo.

“Criminal Minds” was the most watched program on CBS and second most watched overall with 10.1 million viewers. It was up 10% from last week with a rating of 2.3 in the key demo.

“Survivor,” which averaged 9.4 million viewers, stayed even with last week with a rating of 2.3 in the key demo.

“Stalker” rounded out the top 10 most watched with about 7 million viewers. The show fell 7% from last week with a rating of 1.4 in the key demo.

On Fox, “Hell’s Kitchen” was up 15% from last week in the key demo with a rating of 1.5. “Red Band Society” stayed even with a rating of 0.9 in the key demo.

Meanwhile, on The CW, “Arrow” dropped 18% from last week with a rating of 0.9 in the key demo. “The 100” was up 20% with a rating of 0.6.

The network averaged about 2.2 million viewers.
