NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” is whittling down the contestants and making up some ground in the ratings. Tuesday night’s live elimination episode drew 11.9 million viewers and a rating of 3.3 in the key 18-49 age group, up 10% from last week, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

“Biggest Loser” maintained the previous week’s 2.0 rating in the young adults demo, while “Chicago Fire” increased 10%, to a 2.3 as the network won the night among 18-49-year-olds, the audience most coveted by advertisers.

However, CBS’ roster of repeats (“NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Person of Interest”) had the edge in total viewers, with an average of 10.1 million, compared with NBC’s 8.95 million.
