CBS, PBS lead nominees for Emmy news and documentary awards

CBS and PBS captured the most nominations for the 34th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, which were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

CBS scored 46 nominations, and PBS scored 45 nominations in categories including breaking news, investigative reporting, outstanding interview and best documentary. The awards will be presented Oct. 1 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

David Fanning, executive producer of PBS’ “Frontline,” will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“David has guided ‘Frontline’ to be the pinnacle of public affairs reporting,” said Malachy Wienges, chairman of the academy.
