“La La Land” took best picture, “Silicon Valley” won best comedy series and awards stalwart “Game of Thrones” nabbed best drama series at the 22nd Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday — the second time in 2016 the Critics’ Choice crowd has gathered for an evening of honors.

“La La Land,” which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and was nominated in 12 categories, took home eight awards, including two for Damien Chazelle, for directing and original screenplay. Casey Affleck was recognized for his lead performance in “Manchester by the Sea” and “Jackie” star Natalie Portman earned lead actress honors.

Leading TV contender “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” which was nominated in six categories, won four awards, including for movie made for TV or limited series. Additionally, acting nods went to Courtney B. Vance, Sterling K. Brown and Sarah Paulson, all of whom won Emmy Awards and are nominated for Golden Globes for their “People v. O.J.” work.

Actor and actress in a drama series wins went to Bob Odenkirk for “Better Call Saul” and Evan Rachel Wood for “Westworld.” The same awards for comedy series went to Donald Glover for “Atlanta” and Kate McKinnon for “Saturday Night Live.”

“Deadpool” won for movie comedy — with a trophy for lead actor Ryan Reynolds too — and “Outlander” got the Most Bingeworthy Award, taking home an honor voted on solely by fans.

The 21st Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony was held in January 2016, but in August the Broadcast Film Critics Assn. and partner organization the Broadcast Journalists Assn. decided to jump ahead of the awards-season pack by holding its 22nd ceremony early in the cycle that will climax with the Oscars on Feb. 26, 2017.

T.J. Miller of “Silicon Valley” hosted the Sunday event, which was held at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica and aired on A&E.
