Emmys 2012: Allison Williams thrilled to hit jackpot with ‘Girls’

Allison Williams said the day felt surreal to her.

The stunning daughter of news anchor Brian Williams and costar of the Emmy-nominated HBO comedy series “Girls” walked the red carpet Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles in a strapless emerald green Oscar de la Renta gown.

“This is just a little bit exciting,” she joked, clearly thrilled. “You dream that other people will get your vision, but when they do it’s hard to believe. It feels like hitting the jackpot.”

Williams said she’s honored by the “Sex and the City” references the show has been getting.

“That show meant so much to me and the other cast members growing up,” she said.

“Girls” just might be more edgy than its predecessor, however, and Williams had some sex scenes that one might think would make her father wince.

“He’s just so proud of me, honestly,” she said, shrugging off the question like it wasn’t too big of a deal.

What was a big deal, though, was how happy she was for her costar and the show’s creator, Lena Dunham.

“Lena, Lena, Lena!” she said. “I’m so happy for her. She’s so sweet and wonderful. I’m the luckiest girl in the world.”
