It’s a good thing Chrissy Teigen told the world Monday that she was pregnant because there was essentially no indication that a baby was on board at La Mer’s “Celebration of an Icon” 50th-anniversary event Tuesday night.

“I feel pretty good,” the mom-to-be was saying in the VIP area of the party, held at Siren Studios in Hollywood. “I’ve been dancing all day! I’m going to stay here as long as I can. I’ve had all this energy.”

Was there a hint of a baby bump showing under the form-fitting, strappy, amply slit white Kayat dress she’d chosen in part because of the heat and humidity? Perhaps — or maybe she’d just eaten that pizza she’d tweeted about ordering earlier in the day.

“As long as I can” probably wasn’t that long at all for Teigen, however: The woman of the hour, who’s one of the faces of the cosmetics brand, arrived fashionably late to her first red-carpet appearance since she and John Legend announced they were expecting a child after years of trying.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Nicole Richie were among those who arrived, looking fabulous, while the party was packed. The three looked a little like mermaids as they held court perched on clusters of blue ottomans in the center of the party’s ocean-themed main room. A-list selfies were in no short supply.

Other famous faces honoring the California-born brand included Argentine polo star Nacho Figueras with model Delfina Blaquie, designer Rachel Roy and actress-model Winter Ave Zoli. The celebration was co-hosted by John Demsey, president of Estee Lauder Cos. Inc., and Crystal Lourd, Jamie Tisch and Quinn Ezralow.

Guests packed a 26,000-square-foot space done up in an under-the-sea experience with a moody digital “ocean” projected onto one massive wall, mermaid acrobats performing on rings above the crowd and towering models moving through the room in retro black swimsuits and floral swim caps, proffering cocktails and La Mer samples.

The Atomics (by the way, these kids are gorgeous) rocked the room with a set, including their new single, “Too Late,” and DJ Zen Freeman kept the party going with a mix of ocean-evocative tunes and dance faves.

The tiniest hors d’oeuvres — twice-baked potatoes smaller than thumb drives, crab cakes a half-inch across, wee chicken tacos that were but a single mouthful — went quickly as they were passed around the room. Similarly, diminutive desserts rounded out the evening.

In the main room, partygoers posed for souvenir photos against a seascape backdrop with retro seahorses or watched the show and the people, while the cocktail area was anchored by bars serving up clever cocktails and, in the center, an immersive video experience.

Stepping into that small round room and pulling the door shut behind them, guests could view a short film chronicling the story of Dr. Max Huber, La Mer’s founder, who after 6,000 experiments over the course of 12 years created Creme de la Mer, the line’s stalwart since 1965.
