"I was more terrified," she said. "This year I'm a little more calm, plus it's much cooler this year."
Indeed, this is the coolest weather the Emmys have seen in years. Plus this year, for the first time, a shade screen has been erected above the carpet. Gunn and the other stars heading into the theater were sweat-free.
Gunn says she doesn't know what to expect inside, that she's just happy and honored to be nominated. She also mentioned that she'd like to pen a follow-up piece to an op-ed she wrote this summer for the
"I wanted to write it," she said of the essay. "It was a 1,500 word piece ... but it had to be reduced into one topic rather than the multilayered topics I initially wrote."
Although she was happy with how it turned out, as well as with the public discussion it engendered after its publication, she said, "I'd like to follow it up so I can encompass all the other issues involved with being on TV and playing female characters."
