Golden Globes parties: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Lady Gaga celebrate wins
Lady Gaga, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio were among the Golden Globe winners headed into the Fox / FX after party on Sunday night.
No sooner had the Golden Globes telecast ended than a mass of party-goers began streaming into the already crowded Fox/Hulu party. And no wonder: Fox emerged the night’s big winner with statuettes in major categories for “The Martian,” “The Revenant,” “Joy” and “Empire.”

“I don’t know what the measure of happiness is, but I’m off the charts tonight,” said Jim Gianopulos, chairman and chief executive of Fox Filmed Entertainment, who could hardly have seemed more pleased as he entered the Fox Pavilion at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. “It’s a wonderful night, so great to see our filmmakers get the recognition they so richly deserve.”
“The Martian” director Ridley Scott and the film’s star, Matt Damon, soon joined Gianopulos and film studio co-chair Stacey Snider in the banquette area, where photographers snapped pics as Scott and Damon held in hand trophies for best picture and best actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy.
“I thought [the win] was more for my musical prowess than anything else,” Damon joked before he and Scott both acknowledged the importance of science in the film.

“I related to the problem-solving,” two-time Globes winner Damon said, “because that’s what it’s like when you’re making movies. When you’re in production, you’re basically lighting money on fire, and so you always have to figure out the best way to get the scene.”
As guests mingled beneath a ceiling ornamented in ferns, Leonardo DiCaprio swept into the room, settling into another banquette with Alejandro G. Inarritu. Having both won statuettes for “The Revenant,” in their case for acting in and directing a dramatic motion picture, respectively, they too were quickly surrounded by photographers.
After a while, another of the night’s victors, Lady Gaga -- who won for her role in “American Horror Story: Hotel” -- exited the party. “I’m surprised, period,” the pop superstar admitted, and then added, as she had in her acceptance speech, “I always wanted to be an actress, even longer than I wanted to be a singer.”
Yet even those who didn’t pick up awards said the night left them with positive experiences. “Yes, I wanted to win,” said “Fargo” nominee Patrick Wilson “But I got to meet Oscar Isaac, David Oyelowo and all the others in my category.”
