New artist Lorde has quickly learned that fame comes with its nastier edges. Rapper Tyler the Creator reposted an image of the 17-year-old singer hugging her beau, with the caption “Hhahahahahah.” A few days later, teenage fans of One Direction and Justin Bieber joined in on the racist boyfriend-bashing, spurred by an unfounded rumor that Lorde had deemed the pop stars “ugly.” “Come back to us when your boyfriend doesn’t look like PSY gone wrong,” said one. “Girl your boyfriend looks like Mao Tse Tung,” said another.
