Ireland Baldwin in rehab to deal with 'emotional trauma,' she says

Ireland Baldwin says she's in rehab voluntarily, mocks the notion that she's been 'intensely partying'

Ireland Baldwin has checked herself into rehab in Malibu to "deal with some emotional trauma" -- but she's been spending some of her time there getting the world straight about why she made the move.

The 19-year-old model tweeted about her current situation Monday after a story surfaced alleging that Kim Basinger had checked her daughter into a treatment center last Thursday because she'd been "partying non-stop."

"'Intensive partying' haha," said Baldwin, whose dad is Alec Baldwin and whose attitude toward going to rehab had been described by a Radar Online source as "kicking and screaming."

Ireland begged to differ.

"Apparently I'm in rehab for intensive partying soooo I'm just going to lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt," she said in a series of tweets Monday afternoon. "I checked myself into Soba [Recovery Center] for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I'm not much a party cat but I am here deal with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover."

She continued: "Someday I'll feel ready to share my story openly without feeling the way I do. Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places."

Oh yeah, she's also been reading.

A source told People magazine that Baldwin's stay was neither drug-related nor involuntary.

"She's just been in some tough situations lately," the source told the magazine, "and it's gotten a bit stressful and overwhelming, so she's just being proactive."

Baldwin had more words for her fans on Tuesday morning.

"There has never been a time where I haven't been honest with my fans & the people who have supported and loved me since day one," she tweeted.
