John Stamos says his “Full House” costar and on-screen wife Lori Loughlin could have been “the one that got away.”

Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky? Quick, someone start playing “Forever”!

Stamos, 49, who now plays head of a sports and entertainment conglomerate in USA’s “Necessary Roughness,” admitted that he always had a thing for his costar, 48, but the “timing was always off,” he told HuffPost Live.

When he wasn’t talking about losing his virginity, appearing in a gay publication with “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm, his Greek pride or how he’d revamp the Huffington Post’s homepage, Stamos did talk about the sitcom, which aired from 1987 to 1995 and jump-started his career, and his relationship with his costar.

“We were friends, we were on the soaps together and we actually did date. We went on a date to Disneyland before, you know, before we were both married. In real life, when we were 18, 19 years old,” he added. “We did have some off timing, but no disrespect to her family and her husband now, I would say that she could be the one that got away.”

For the uninitiated, Stamos’ Elvis- and hair-obsessed rocker Uncle Jesse courted and married Loughlin’s character on the show. The couple moved into the home of his single brother-in-law Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), who also happened to be Becky’s TV co-anchor. Jesse had already been living with Danny and his comedian friend Joey (Dave Coulier) to help take care of Danny’s three daughters after his wife passed away. When they got married on the show, Jesse and Becky took up residence in Danny’s refurbished attic and had twin boys, who then lived there too. A “Full House,” indeed.

After continuing to grow very close on set and after, the actor did say that Loughlin is one of his “dearest friends, and that’s good enough. But I really do adore her.” Jokingly adding, “she has a great husband and he’s got a lot of money so...”

Stamos married model Rebecca Romijn in 1998 but the comely couple ended their marriage in 2005.

As for Aunt Becky, er, Loughlin -- in a previous interview with the site, the “90210” alum didn’t exactly deny that there was something between them and spoke fondly of her leading men, which is what got everyone on the topic in the first place.

“We were great friends, we had a really good rapport and we have chemistry. I was actually married [to Michael R. Burns] at the time I was doing the show and then I got divorced, and when I got divorced he met Rebecca and he got married. So our timing was just really off so I don’t think it really even entered our minds that it would be something more.”

Loughlin was married to investment banker-turned-media man Burns from 1989 to 1996. She’s now married to fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, with whom she has two daughters.

But, man, if she and Stamos would have made it as a couple in real life ... oh, mylanta!
